Apa citing a dissertation

Apa citing a dissertation , of course, the authors should be respected and encouraged. When a scientist-developer comes up with a new technique or even a psychological-pedagogical method that facilitates the solution of some practical or research tasks, he expects remuneration (not only moral, but also material). True, if this is a truly keen researcher, then the main reward for him should not be “fees”, but a feeling of creativity, or at least recognition and gratitude of colleagues. At the same time, a development scientist should know that far from always truly valuable ideas and methods immediately become recognized (and well paid).
Therefore, a real scientist should be ready for a certain non-recognition or, as they sometimes say, be ready to work “for thanks”, to write something “on the table”. In the conditions of market science, this is quite difficult to do, especially since the idea of copyright is now very popular among development scientists, who love telling each other stories (and sometimes real stories), as some of their colleagues managed to make great money on their developments. At the same time, they often admire not the real scientific or practical value of these developments, but the ability of the author to “profitably sell himself”.
The idea of copyright has many variants of its perversion. One of the most common variants of perversion is when the author, who really invented something, then makes all of his strength and talents in order to sell his development as expensive as possible. He is looking for buyers, bargaining, often overpriced, and all this is quite difficult to do in an environment where the market for psychological services and development is clearly oversaturated. As a result, instead of continuing the scientific search, the author turns into a “merchant”. Of course, we can say that in this way the author seeks to bring his developments to practice and to the consumer, but, in our opinion, this is self-justification and self-deception. After the first failures of the “profitable sale of one’s creativity”, would it not have been better to do something else, and simply hand over our achievements to those who really need them. Someone may be indignant here, this is wrong, each work should be adequately paid, etc. But we believe that the real artist’s best reward will be not so much a “fee” as a feeling of the usefulness of his work for clients or for his fellow researchers apa citing a dissertation.

Essay Typer

Essay Typer

Problems begin when self-assertion becomes an end in itself, that is, they try to achieve love and respect not at the expense of their original (and even risky in some way) reasoning, but at the expense of cheap methods of “seducing” audiences or methods of “intimidating” poor students, or through the techniques of “playing along” to unformed tastes and scientific (and more often to pseudoscientific) student bias. For example, instead of acquainting students with well-established ideas, the teacher avoids these “boring” topics and immediately turns to popular (or rather populist) topics that have nothing to do with serious science.
One of the most common options for self-assertion is the organization of “very strict” examinations and tests. Here the teacher begins to literally “rage”, forcing students to reproduce a lot of completely unnecessary and insignificant nuances of the question on which they answer. At the same time, of course, “unsuccessful” are put in a mass order. And all this, in the opinion of such “strict” self-affirming teachers and examiners, should contribute to improving the “quality of knowledge” and the status of teachers in the eyes of students. At the same time, an interesting pattern has long been noticed: the more solid the scientist, the less he allows himself such variants of self-affirmation. And vice versa, the less insignificant a given teacher, the more malicious he is rampant in exams and tests. Unfortunately, this version of self-assertion is often characteristic of young, beginning scientists and post-graduate students: they sort of play out for ordinary students, to whom they themselves recently belonged. How can you not remember the notorious “hazing” in the army, when old-timers also “recoup” on beginners, as if avenging them for their recent humiliations (although what have the beginners here?).
It must be remembered that the essay Typer itself is an opportunity for a student to demonstrate the essence of the issue in question in a short time. Unfortunately, quite often on exams there is a rather indecent game in the painful reproduction of irrelevant details that a normal person (for the sake of preserving his mental health and clearing the memory of all rubbish) simply quickly forgets. As a result, we get a lot of excellent students who for some time are well versed in irrelevant details, but do not understand something more substantial … And to some extent this is facilitated by some self-affirming teachers in examinations and tests.

The problem of self-affirmation of teachers is complicated by the fact that students often understand the unjustified severity of teachers with understanding, and then even remember with joy this after graduation. It has already been mentioned above that on this basis, some former university graduates, when they themselves begin to teach psychology, begin to copy the behavior of such teachers.

This problem is also quite common. According to our observations, most often these are young teachers and scientific leaders who still have to write a doctoral dissertation and who need to “collect statistical material.” Scientists are less likely to do this, seeking to publish their work in reputable foreign studies, where there is still interest in global cross-cultural research on Russian samples. Often a student goes for it, working with a respected, often “fashionable” supervisor – this is a kind of payment for being close to the scientific idol of this student group. Probably, not only the teacher (or supervisor) is facing a moral choice here, but the student himself. Although situations are possible here when a student is literally obligated to conduct such research under the fear of “failing to pass the test” or on the pretext that “a student must still learn and he must do what he is told” …
If a student participating in the collection of such data is at least mentioned in the work of his supervisor, then there is no ethical problem. Moreover, the student really gains the experience of literate (according to the highest requirements) conducting such research. A problem arises when a poor student is not even mentioned, although he has done a lot of work, which in ethical terms is completely incorrect.

Real teaching involves not only the transfer of the foundations of this science to students, but also the constant demonstration of possible reasoning about these fundamentals, as well as the demonstration of the capabilities of the scientific method itself in analyzing and solving psychological problems. Only then will the student understand why scientific knowledge and methods are needed at all, and it is then that he will develop a real educational and professional motivation. In addition, real education implies not so much the formation of the famous “professional knowledge and skills – ZUNs”, but the formation on their basis of the pеrsonality.
Of course, the teacher needs to assert himself, just how and at whose expense? If the teacher is a creative person and he has his own scientific ideas, then often in the classrooms he speaks them along with other points of view. And if the student audience perceives these ideas, then for self-affirmation of a teacher-researcher it is no less important than the recognition of his ideas in the scientific community.

Finally, you can mark another facet of “market squealing” in science – this is an appeal to law enforcement agencies in order to simply take the extortioner red-handed. But, in our experience, the discussion of such an opportunity (with colleagues and students) is even outraged by many, because “it’s even indecent to“ pledge ”our own colleagues”, “it’s better to talk to them in a good way” … that in such a position there is a clear distrust of law enforcement agencies, especially since among the extortionists you can often see people in uniform (and we even came across extortionists-generals who have many connections not only with psychological luminaries, but also with government officials). It turns out that the very attempt to put the extortioner in place and, moreover, to punish him according to the law, can be perceived by many as “squealing” at a “respected scientist” …
Unfortunately, the author of these lines cannot boast of courage and a developed civil position. Quite recently, a large sum of money was extorted from our applicant at one provincial university (somewhere along the road from Moscow to St. Petersburg) … Even now we cannot muster courage and say exactly which university we are talking about, especially since and the rector of this university actually encouraged one professing extortionist, because the extortionist himself presents himself as an important figure, having many strong connections in the metropolitan psychology. Moreover, we sometimes even wondered if it would be worthwhile for us to discourage our applicant from taking a bribe: he would have lived peacefully, otherwise he would be forced to worry too much, including using various delays in drawing up documents. Here, after all, a well-established system works! ..
Unfortunately, both the chairman and members of this dissertation council, knowing full well what was going on, and even condemning the extortioner, couldn’t do anything except verbal perturbations – everyone had a fear of extortioner and his patrons in Moscow. And we are not sure that during the trial they would like to act as witnesses, especially since there is no direct evidence of a bribe, because the extortioner himself is from the generals and acts quite intelligently and cautiously. Therefore, the above is not a “statement” of the author to the relevant authorities, but is only an indication that we have direct experience of experiencing this problem, that is, our reasoning is based on personal contact with the abomination that is still encountered (and even thriving, fragrant) in the domestic science. Unfortunately, the concept of professional ethics in the protection of diplomas and dissertations is still far from perfect, and the nobility in these ideas is clearly not enough, not to mention the real opposition to this disgrace.
